1. It’s the KING of Antioxidants

Nothing else comes close to providing as many antioxidants as coffee (fruits and veggies have tons, BUT the human body seems to absorb the most from coffee).

[/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row padding_top=”0px” padding_bottom=”0px”][vc_column fade_animation_offset=”45px” width=”1/1″]

Why this is important: Oxidation is a normal, every day bodily process. Junk food, sugar, salt, stress, smoking, alcohol, UV light and pollution accelerates it. When there are disruptions in the natural oxidation process, highly unstable and potentially damaging molecules called free radicals are created.

Antioxidants fight free radicals (reduce chances of cancer, lower high blood pressure, improve wrinkles, help your heart stay healthy among many other benefits).

2. Coffee makes you happier

A study done by the National Institute of Health found that those who drink four or more cups of coffee daily were 10% less likely to be depressed than those who don’t drink coffee.

Apparently it’s not the caffeine — Coke has significant amounts of caffeine, but it’s linked to depression (maybe it’s the 9 teaspoons of sugar??).

According to the researchers, the reason coffee makes you feel good is because of those awesome antioxidants.

The proposed reason is because coffee acts as a mild antidepressant by aiding in the production of neurotransmitters. Now add in the knowledge that just by drinking Haitian, you’re helping some of the poorest farmers in the world pull themselves into prosperity, and it’s a double “YEAH!”

Dr. Chuanhai Cao, a neuroscientist at the USF, and co-author of the study, said, “We are not saying that moderate coffee consumption will completely protect people from Alzheimer’s disease. However, we firmly believe that moderate coffee consumption can appreciably reduce your risk of Alzheimer’s or delay its onset.”

9. Sleep deprived? Just SMELL coffee

Anyone with a lousy night of sleep knows coffee does wonders for relieving stress. Now it’s backed by research (okay, with rats, but still): Researchers at the Seoul National University examined the brains of rats who were sleep deprived and discovered that coffee aromas = changes in brain proteins tied to stress.
